    On 6 June 2018 the revitalised Witold Rowicki Passage Way was opened in Warsaw. The passage way is located at the back of the reconstructed SEZAM Shopping House, at the corner of the Marszałkowska and Świętokrzyska Streets.

    Between 25 and 27 October 2017 the Witold Rowicki State First Level Music School and the Local Government Second Level Music School in Żywiec hosted the 2 nd International Violin Competition “Witold Rowicki in Memoriam”. It was addressed to pupils of the first and second level music schools.

  • Anniversary album


    01 February 2015

    For the 100th birth anniversary and the 25th death anniversary of Witold Rowicki – the great Polish conductor – Polskie Nagrania Recording Company and the Management of the Association of Polish Artist Musicians prepared a joint publishing of the anniversary album consisting of 5CDs with Rowicki’s recordings – performed with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Warsaw Philharmonic and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Polish Radio in Katowice (currently National Symphonic Orchestra of the Polish Radio). The album was published with financial assistance of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage provided under the Programme “Artistic Events”, Priority “Music”.

    On 1 October the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw hosted a scientific conference titled “Witold Rowicki – 100th birth anniversary and 25th death anniversary”. It was organised by the Chair of Conducting at the Department of Composition, Conducting and Theory of Music and financed from the funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

  • The first level state music school in Żywiec was named after Witold Rowicki

    On 24 September the First Level State Music School in Żywiec was named after Witold Rowicki. The choice of the school and its Patron is not accidental. The Conductor spent his school years in Żywiec: he graduated there from the H. Kołłątaj Primary School and the M. Kopernik Pre-Secondary School. Decision about naming exactly that school after the Artist was taken by a wide group: the Ministry of Culture, the authorities of the town of Żywiec and the local district of Żywiec, the conductor’s family as well as the entire school.

    On 21 and 22 February 2014 the Warsaw Philharmonic gave concerts celebrating the 100th anniversary of Witold Rowicki’s birthday, held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bogdan Zdrojewski. Before the concert a documentary film about the Conductor, “Cień pod kamieniem” (Shadow under the Stone), directed by Tomasz Dobrowolski and produced by the Documentary and Feature Film Production Company (WFDiF) was shown.
